I just spoke with Arleen Baldwin at United Healthcare and she said that I can expect my cheque for SRS Surgery within 7 to 10 days. It comes just over $11k after a $400 penalty for not pre-certifying and after excluding my 10% copayment. There was also an additional $500 that I payed as an initial deposit on the surgery which can't be included because I was covered by a different provider at the time that I made this. Thanks so much Madelyn and Mary Ann for all your efforts and support in helping to see this true. I really feel that very important progress has been made here that emphasizes Lucent's support of Transsexual Women and the value Lucent places on diversity in general. There are many companies that say they support diversity because it is a popular thing to say but these values that they project are just empty words that they don't live up to. They are clearly just paper mache companies that do nothing to re-inforce their diversity values by hiring, promoting and protecting minorities. It is like they printout out their policies and values on paper procured in a kangaroo court. Anyway I am very happy that my SRS claim has been processed and to be an employee of Lucent as this is obviously a company that supports it's ground values. I really believe this company has many tricks to show the world yet and is only just beginning as a world force -- I don't care what the fly by night short term investors have been upto these past few months. Just as an aside, I was a participant in a focus meeting a few nights ago in San Jose where we dissected and analysed quite a number of the larger companies and Lucent came out very favourably indeed in the feedback. It was certainly seen differently and ahead of most of the companies listed including HP, Agilent, Dell, Cisco,Compaq, Intel, Oracle and Microsoft as a company to work for and it was seen as just having a different more comprehensive culture than the others. The last four companies were badly decimated by our group. I even felt sorry for them particularly since one of them was the company behind the one way see through mirror that we were not to know about. I think we all felt a little sick afterwards with what the feedback that we gave for that particular company but I presume this company can only be happy to have gained honest and relatively reliable feedback.
